Your Dimension or Mine ? #6BestHop #fantasy #magic #metaphysical #romance

Hi Everyone 🙂 I keep forgetting to sign up for bloghops. So I figured I’d try the Sundays’ Six of the Best where authors post 6 paragraphs of their work.

This snippet is from the very beginning of Your Dimension or Mine?

~~~
“…and of course there is the effect on the economy…”
Sighing, Ari blinked her eyes and stared at the man seated directly across from her. He was still talking. And eating. From the moment they were seated at the private table for two in the neighborhood’s newest restaurant, Jay had been stuffing his face. Or talking. Sometimes he attempted multi-tasking and did them both at the same time. When that happened, Ari wanted to ask their waiter for a splatter guard but worried it would come across as rude.
“These damned politicians just don’t know anything,” he finished his newest rant, taking a big gulp of wine before letting out a belch.
If only Ma Nature would choose this moment to send a tsunami our way, she thought. Of course, the possibility of that happening was less than zero. The closest they got were flash floods in August. It was January.
“Have you noticed the price of gas?” Jay asked, munching on a breadstick as the waiter removed his salad plate and replaced it with a large bowl of soup. Without waiting for her to acknowledge his question, he launched into a diatribe about fixing prices and the state of pigs…or at least that was what she thought he said.
Letting her mind drift, Ari tried to remember why she accepted this date in the first place. Oh, that’s right—her sister Jane set it up without asking. Well, it wasn’t the first time. Ever since she entered college, Jane had taken it upon herself to introduce her little sister to men just like her husband Tony.
Your Dimension or Mine?
When Ari Reynolds signed up for an online dating service, she only did it to get her sister off her back about her dateless life. She never expected to be contacted by men from other dimensions or have a demon claim ownership of her through a magical DNA contract. Now that her eyes are open, she is catapulted to Dimension Zeta. There, a powerful Fae named Mayir trains her to defend herself against the mysterious Orion.
Even more confusing, she finds herself falling for Terrian, a man from an entirely different dimension. Terrian promises to help defend her, but when Orion steals something of great importance to her, she must stand alone against him. Can a mere human fight off the magical control of an immortal being who wants her more than anything?
My Sexy Mystery #MySexySaturday #bloghop
Okay, so I haven’t posted in like forever. I figured maybe a bloghop might be the way to get my social media and writing back into gear.
So, this particular bloghop has a different theme each week. The one this week is My Sexy Mystery. As I’m writing a cozy mystery, I thought I would give you 7 paragraphs from it. Currently untitled. The town of Covington Bay is filled with all sorts of memorable places with even more memorable characters.
An urgent meeting was called at the Sip’n’Squat coffee shop so all the business owners are there.
* * *
The Sip’n’Squat was filled with people when she arrived. Josephine waved and pointed at an empty seat next to her. Relieved she wouldn’t have to take the only other empty spot she saw next to Gretchen, Trill made her way through the crowd and sat down. “So what’s the meeting for?” she asked.
“Heck if I know. I was closing up and Ava informed me she’d called a meeting for tonight.” Josephine grunted. “Means I have to clean up twice.”
With a grimace, Trill nodded. That sucked. Because Ava insisted, no doubt, that people be allowed to buy coffee while they were here. Well, actually, she probably tried to get her to offer the coffee for free, but there was no way Josephine could afford to do that.
A few people sent strange looks their way. “Why are they looking at us like that?”
Josephine shook her head. “No idea. Someone’s got a bug up their ass about something. Maybe they’re pissed about the proposed stop sign.”
“Yeah, you’ve been pushing that for a while now. But it does make sense.” The avenue was long with no stops whatsoever. During most of the year, that wasn’t a problem. But once summer came and the tourists descended en masse, traffic was a bear. Add in all the people crossing the street and it became a logistics problem. Josephine had been gunning for one stop sign to give people a place to cross. The townies had fought it for three years but finally it was on board for approval.
At seven on the dot, Ava stood up and walked to the front of the room. She stood up to her full five feet two inch height, put her fists on her protuberant hips and declared, “We’ve got a murderer in our midst.”
*****
That’s all for now. The book still has a long way to go, but hopefully having a weekly bloghop will kick me into gear to finish it.
A sixty-eight #8sunday #ya #metaphysical #romance #humor #paranormal #wewriwa
Hello Weekend Writing Warriors 🙂
I keep forgetting to sign up. Whoops! Anyway, thought I would give you a snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance that came out the end of last year. Here, Kaylee is introduced to, well…Heath’s pride and joy. If she can only figure out why.
~ ~ ~
“Shall we go?”
Nodding, I walked out, closing the door behind me and followed him down our drive to an old black car with a really loud muffler. “What is it?” I asked Vane.
“A sixty-eight. Heath built it from the ground up. It’s his baby.” Vane opened up the passenger door and pulled the front seat forward for me, obviously assuming I would know what a sixty-eight was. I climbed into the back of the rumbling car, feeling a bit trapped, and yet not about to admit I had no idea.
Kaylee thought learning energy work was fun, especially as it got her from here to there with barely a thought.
Back from energy camp for her junior year in high school, her carefree use of energy is noted by two new teenagers in town: Heath and Vane
Annoyed at and attracted to them at the same time, she doesn’t expect to find out the three of them are part of a Tryad. When all three energies combine, nothing can stop them from doing anything they want.
The more the three of them interact, the more intense their energy.
When a man intent on controlling them attacks, they flee to train together.
Until he kidnaps Kaylee’s parents…
With no time to prepare, Heath, Vane, and Kaylee must face this man and try to rescue her parents before it’s too late.
Now off you go to read some amazing snippets from even more amazing authors. 🙂
We’ll take it from here #8sunday #wewriwa #dystopian #paranormal #ya
Hello, WeWriWa followers! How are you doing this week?
I’m giving another snippet from Camp One this week. In this scene, Dolce, Courtland, and Mieran are meeting the three most powerful prisoners in the camp they are now a part of.
~~~

“We’ll take it from here,” the redhead said to the guards behind them. The strength in his voice and his bearing were obvious but it was still surprising when the guards backed off and left them alone. Turning his deep blue eyes on them, he gave them a sad smile. “Welcome to hell. My name is Iain. To my left is Devon.” Devon was even larger than Iain was. While the same height, his shoulders were wide, his muscles numerous and when you added in his shoulder length shaggy black hair, deep gray eyes and constant hand twitching, Dolce was sure he was someone to keep an eye on.

The Changelings: Camp One

Picture the United States, circa 20-teens.
Only it’s not the United States we know. Or is it?

Every year, teenagers from the ages of 14-16 get tested for a classified, illegal hormone nobody knows anything about, except for the military. Tested as positive for XJ-99Q, Dolce, Courtland, and their friend Mieran are removed from society and thrown into a camp in the middle of the desert. With electrified fencing and face-to-face duels to the death, they don’t imagine it could be worse. Until they find out what the hormone actually does; turns them into something else entirely. Faced with annihilation, Dolce and Courtland join up with the three strongest males in camp. While Mieran joins with their enemy.
When the camp is destroyed, five of them escape, tasting freedom. But when they relax their guard, the military finds them. Captured, escaped, and captured again, no matter which way they move, the military is two steps ahead of them.
Against all odds, they find a family of humans they trust and wish to stay with. Only, this time, they may have not just doomed themselves, but every human in their vicinity to the fate of Camp One.

They were…different #WeWriWa #dystopian #paranormal #8sunday #YA

Hello, WeWriWa followers! How are you doing this week?

I’m giving another snippet from Camp One this week, since there seemed to be some interest. It’s actually a completed 111k book. I wrote it as 3 separate novellas and after a huge amount of cutting and changing the ending, it still ended up over 100k. In this scene, Dolce, Courtland, and Mieran have just taken showers and put on the camp uniform of tan upon tan.

~~~
“I think we need to explain fashion to these people.”
They were happy to throw their clothes into the hamper that stood off to the side but Dolce did not want to toss her dress in there. “It’s the only color here,” she explained to the man who looked at her as though she was speaking a foreign language. “Look,” she went on in exasperation, “If I have to wear such boring clothing, I can at least accessorize by cutting this up.”
He seemed to disagree as he grabbed her dress and stuffed it in the hamper, pushing her out the door of the shower where the boys waited.
“Unbelievable,” she hissed, following her two friends along a long metal hallway. At the end stood three men. They were…different.
